Well this lunchtime, I had to stop and have a good old chuckle after one of the users on Freedoma decided to email me some of the photographs that they’ll be using on their profile picture. I personally like the middle one best! This also happened to be the Freedomite who has also left the most amusing review to date….for those of you that haven’t had a chance to see it yet, read his comments on Just Kevin’s barbers below! Paul Wenham, early adopter, comical chappie and enthusiast extraordinaire…… thank you!
“I have to give this place a mixed review. Although I’ve never personally had my hair cut there, my friend Tom has. I love this place because they cut Tom’s hair. Tom doesn’t love this place because they cut his hair. I’m sure you can imagine the pleasure it brings to see your 26 year old pal sneak out of the shop with a hat pulled way down, desperately trying to cover up a three inch step circling his simple head like a mixing bowl. The joy of chasing Tom down the street laughing like a loon and throwing twigs at his bowl head. So in short I probably wouldn’t risk visiting Kev’s myself although the cuts are undeniably very good value for money and if you are after a certain look then it might be just the place for you. Alas I fear my wedge days finished a few years ago. Having said all that, I think I’d rather pay a fiver to visit Just Kevins than fork out £50 for a fancy cut somewhere in town. With the economic climate as it is maybe we’ll all meet over a milky cup of tea in JK’s waiting area before too long.”
Enjoy the sunshine one and all!
So we decided to make ourselves a little mascot today. It’s big, it’s red, its got balls. Millions and millions of little polystyrene ones. And although they have been flying all round the room, we’ve managed to pull them out of the air and bag them. We’re spreading the love with a big red heart…..and there it is – the big red beauty!…….(look right now).
I’ve been wanting to make a love heart for ages- not sure why, but just wanted it to be large and full of life. Something you can cuddle up into when things get tough or dive on top of in moments of excitement. I can tell you now I’m going to be having a lot of fun with this big red beast. What’s with the heart? Well I guess I’m longing for Freedoma to be all about spreading the love. Doing business in a way that’s different and enabling others to do the same. Learning from the pain and mistakes of the past, recognising the challenging financial climate that so many are in, and dreaming of what could be whilst embracing a hope for the future…..and breathe.
I thought I’d do a simple thing and write Freedoma’s first blog entry, and now I guess I’m trying to work out what the tone of this blog should be. The site is partially geared towards businesses, so chances are my language may be a little familiar to put some of them off. But to be honest, I wouldn’t have spent the afternoon filling a 5 foot heart with balls if that was a major worry. I want the communication to be honest, in the ways that people’s reviews will be honest. And I want to journey with our customers in the same way that we’re helping other businesses journey with theirs. We’re not corporate, we haven’t got lots of money and we’re not looking to promise things we can’t deliver. We’re a small focused company birthing out from the ground, setting out to create a service and a product, that we completely and utterly believe in, and wanting to have a lot of fun along the way. Lifes too short to get angsty. We really hope you enjoy yourselves here too. I look forward to getting to know you over the coming weeks, months and years and I hope that Freedoma goes on to serve users and businesses out there to infinity and beyond!
We’re gearing up towards our launch- and we’re just nailing down the date. In reality its an excuse to throw a good party. So we’ve got a few musical mates who are going to be coming down to celebrate with us…and let me tell you now they put on a pretty good show! Really looking forward to that. But in the meantime, look after your heart, thanks for listening and go spread the love.
